Code Compliance - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why did I receive this green tag and what does it mean?
A. A green tag means that a violation of the South Jordan City Municipal code has been observed on your property. A green tag is not a citation but rather a means to educate residents on City ordinances and gain voluntary compliance

Q. How do I report a code violation?
A. Complaints are typically received by phone or through the online citizen help desk found on the City's website. Residents are encouraged to leave their contact information when filing a complaint in case the Officer needs further information. Code Compliance Officers will not release your information

Q. How long can a recreational vehicle park in front of a home?
A. Recreational vehicles may be parked in front of a home for 72 hours. After 72 hours, recreational vehicles must be stored properly behind the main line of a home.

Q. What if I am unable to come into compliance by the re-inspection date?
A. If you are unable to come into compliance by the follow-up date listed on your notice, you may contact the Code Compliance Officer to request additional time.

Q. If I don't come into compliance what will happen?
A. A Code Compliance Officer may issue a misdemeanor citation if you choose not to comply with City ordinances.
