One of the responsibilities that the Legal Department has is to actively monitor and participate in legislative issues with the Utah State Legislature. During the 2012 General Legislative Session, there were 477 bills which passed both the House of Representatives and Senate for the Governor's signature. The City monitors legislative committees throughout the year in order to be informed and advocate on behalf of its residents.
The City of South Jordan works frequently with our local Representatives and Senators to ensure that the bills passed ultimately benefit cities and towns and their citizens. In addition, the City often works together with other cities and organizations like the Utah League of Cities and Towns to help design legislation which best meets the needs of cities and their residents.
