Pool Rules
We at South Jordan Fitness and Aquatic Center would like everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting our facilities. Your understanding and cooperation in following these rules will help to ensure that all patrons have a safe and happy time while at the pool.
General Pool Rules
- Walk on Deck Only
May slip and fall and injure self or others.
- No Roughnecking, dunking, or Shoulder Fights
The person on the shoulders could fall on the side of the pool or could fall on an unsuspecting swimmer.
- Some Toys Allowed
Toys break and could be sucked into pool filters. Kids throw them and they may be heavy, hard, or have sharp edges. Only soft, inflatable balls are recommended.
Squirt guns of any size or shape are not allowed.
- Only Coastguard Approved Lifejackets and water wings allowed in pool during public swim.
Some PDF's are unsafe. Large flotation devices can block the Lifeguards view of the pool bottom and other swimmers.
- No children under the age of 8 in the water without a person 14 years old or older in the water with them and within arms length at all times.
Provides for supervision of children. Set by the Facility's Insurance Carrier. Statistics show the majority of rescues are performed on children age 8 and under.
- No Food, Drink, or Glass Containers Allowed in the Pool and Locker Room Area, and No Smoking on the Premises.
This is State Law.Dirties up the pool and shower area.Can cause unnecessary problems with the filters. This also applies to chewing gum which not only effects pool filters, but can also be choked on while swimming.
- Shower before entering the pool and after putting on oil and lotion.
Keeps pool clean. Board of Health Requirement.
- Patrons inappropriately dressed may be asked to leave (i.e. thong bathing suit, street clothes, cutoffs.)
- No sliding or swinging on handrails.
May fall while doing it.They are for people to get out of the pool, not for gymnastics.
- No climbing over current channel islands, or hanging on float ropes.
- No splashing Lifeguards or pushing them in the pool
Takes attention away from the pool.
Lifeguards should be respected.

- No abusive language in the pool.
This is a public place.
- No Diving anywhere in the pool.
May hit head on pool bottom and obtain neck and back injuries.
- No flips, twists, or backdives from side of pool.
May hit deck and obtain severe head injury.
- Persons with open sores or rashes are advised not to use pool areas.
Board of Health Requirement.
- No diapers in the pool.
Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper.
- No changing diapers in the pool area.
Please use the locker rooms.
- Children 4 years and older must use the appropriate dressing rooms, or family change rooms.
- No cell phone, palm pilot use, or any other recording device of any kind allowed in Locker rooms.
- The Life Guards are in control of the pool area. They reserve the right to add rules that may be needed to maintain health and safety of swimmers.
Splash Area Rules
- No Running on or around play
structures.
- No headfirst sliding .
- No climbing on structures.
- Larger children need to be considerate of smaller ones.
- No sitting on spray features or
bubblers.
Water Slide Rules
- Must be 48'' tall to ride the slide.
- No double riding (riding with a buddy.)
- Riders must be in a seated posistion, or ride on their back, feet first. No head first sliding.
- Flotation devices and/or lifejackets are not allowed on the slide.
- Childeren cannot "be caught" at the bottom of the slide.
- Eyeglasses or goggles are not allowed to be worn while riding the slide.
- Other rules may be enforced at the discretion of the facility management and/or lifeguard for you safety.
